New Post

Im sooo sick of logging onto the net and checking this blog to see if there is any new information about anything and finding absolutly no change. Not even a new comment. So i decided to change that.

I dont really know what is happening with the RBT lately. Are most of us too busy auditioning to actually start a project for the RBT or is that the Corpses Bride thing? Are we going to be doing that as a project or is that just something that Kirby or Mr Caughey wanted us to read to see if it would work well for future projects/productions? Its a great looking script i think Kirby :)

I just think we all need to set our minds on a production of some sort this term and actually get it finished unlike last time. I think we are more likely to finish something that one of us *cough* kirby *cough* maybe adele *cough* have written than just a play that was in a book. I know we have the monash festival thing too but thats for Drama class isnt it? So i think we need to start something during lunchtimes at least.

I think that has filled up some page space and has made my life look more interesting because there is something different to look at once i log on.

Good post Laura and good to see initiative coming from you guys instead of just hanging around waiting for me to tell you what to do - I've got a ton of correction, production auditions, production script, and reports on my mind atm so new projects aren't high on my agenda for at least another week or so. Doesn't mean you guys can't get something rolling though.

Corpse Bride is probably the best place to start, since we now have a script for it - one reason why it's been so slow lately is because none of our projects have been advanced enough to involve the RBT as a group, but Corpse Bride has just reached that point.
We need to finish the read-through that we started the other day, just to make sure there are no obvious holes in the script, and then there is nothing to stop us assigning parts and starting rehearsals. With any luck our new theatre will be up and ready around the same time.

Another option that is almost ready to move on from writing phase to staging phase, is Adele's eulogy script. I've finished reading through it today, and there are a few things I want to discuss with her, but it's pretty good. Its not as major a project as Corpse' Bride and won't involve the whole group, so it might be something some of you can do as a side project in the short term - maybe while other group members are focussed on the Production - if that's what Adele wants to do with it; I don't know her intentions for it. She may want to keep it for our short play festival later in the year.

Finally, I've been pretty impressed with the three year 7s that have auditioned for the production so far, which reminded me that I want to get our drama-for-youth policy underway. I'm really keen for you guys (or some of you at least) to get some kind of program running one lunchtime a week for year 7s and 8s. School policy says I have to supervise, but I'd really like it to be RBT members actually running it - it's the kind of thing that admin loves and would earn RBT massive brownie points. Whether it's a couple of you directing the kids in a mini-production, or just playing drama games with them once a week, I dunno, but I would like us to be doing something.

So there you go - some ideas, but that's all they are at the moment, though, and if you really want to get RBT back on track, it's up to you all to put them (or something else) into action.
