End of year function - ARBY awards

Wednesday is our final general meeting for the year, and we have a lot of stuff to get through there, including two membership votes, so I figured it would help if we got some of this stuff sorted before then, or at least started thinking about it.
I'm looking at Saturday December 22 as the most likely night for this function, as it would let us go to Short and Sweet in the afternoon (2pm - 4pm) and then stay in the city and have our function, but I am open to other ideas. It also depends of course on availability of venues.

I need to know some stuff from you guys, like:

1. Do you want a function room with food catered that belongs just to us for the night, or would you rather just a restaraunt where we order individually off the menu as if we were just out for a normal dinner, and only stay for as long as it takes to eat?
2. How much per person are you prepared to fork out? For example if the entire night was to cost $100pp for food and venue hire how many people just wouldn't come? What is YOUR upper limit?
3. How much Redback money should we put towards subsidising it? If we had say, $1000 in our account, how much of that would we be justified in using, in your opinion?
4. Who do you think - apart from members - we should invite? Should we invite any non-members at all? At this stage I'm assuming Ashlee, Chrissy, Luke, James are all to be invited...should they be?

Nothing is set yet, I just want an idea of what people are thinking.
Responses in comments please, not in the yellbox

Ok so..

I don't want to go somewhere and eat and just leave when we're done cos that's boring. I think a function room would be cool so we could stay and do the awards thing and mooch around but yeah, it could be expensive.

I'd be prepared to pay around $100, but any more than that is too expensive.

Redback money..does it roll over to next year if we don't use it? And do we get more next year? Cos if we do, what else are we relly going to use it for within the next 6 or so weeks that are left in the year..unless we go on camp, and are planning to use any for that.

I think Chrissy, Ash, Luke and James should be invited.

1. Redback money rolls over to next year if we don't use it
2. we don't get more next year, in fact we don't get any next year, or this year, or any other year: our money is what we make ourselves, through rockfest, shows like RAW, or any other fundraising we do.
Anyone other than Chrissy, Ash, Luke and James? If so who and why?

I, personally, don't want a function room...I like being around OTHER people too (in a restaurant) LoL. I am prepared to pay $100+ for INDIVIDUAL food...I'd rather that than catered...and I think it's better. I think I nice restaurant in the city (possibly overlooking the city or the bay) would be nice. I think inviting them is a good idea because it is a RBT function.

i think it would be cool to have it in a room for ourselves cause it would mean that we wouldnt haveto fight over everyone else when we are talking, it would be easier to get everyones attention & we can make noise with out really bothering anyone else
ummm... $100 is about my limit i dont really want to pay much more than that. I think that we should use some of the redback money to pay for a part of the night, but i dont think we should use too much. Depending on how much it is we should just use a percentage (maybe the more money the higher the percentage)
I think we should invite "old" members as they have been apart of the whole redback thing, they know what its about. i think anyone that was once a member should be invited (i dont think we should pick and chose depending on who we like more or less, we should just have one group that we think we should invite)

Yeah I like Pat's idea of somewhere overlooking the city or bay is nice.

That made no sense. Either way, I agree.

Ok just to clarify a few things:
1.I'm already assuming that ex-members (well ones that weren't kicked out anyway) should be invited, the question now is whether anyone else should be.
Eg. non-members who have been involved in projects such as Playhouse and RAW?
Non-member adults that have helped out over the year - like Mr Tsauoussi, Michelle, Nikki, Tristin etc.?
Non-members that came on camps and/or excursions with us - like Andrea, Vicki, Kristy etc?
2. No matter what the overall agreement is about cost for the night, the first priority of our Redback money is to make sure EVERY member can come. That's why I asked what people's personal upper limit is. I'm obviously assuming (and confident in doing so) that nobody is going to claim a lower limit just to screw Redback out of its money: I trust people to be honest about what they are able to afford.
So in other words: first priority is ensuring 100% attendance, second priority is reducing costs for all.

I think non-member adults should be invited. The ones that have helped us out.

Also non-member people involved in Playhouse and RAW, cos they've made a committment to drama.

But not non-members that just came on camps. Because..they haven't really contributed to Redback other than to..be there on camps and excursions. They weren't in it for the drama, they were in it cos their friends were in it.

Yeah.

All good then Pat :)

I think I'll try to come up with a list of non-members who we MIGHT consider asking then, for various reasons, and we can vote on em tomorrow. So far I've got Tristin (drove us to Allanvale), Nikki & Alex (regulars for Rockfest canteens), Mr Tsauossi (comes to our shows, invites us to shows, and gives a lot of support), Redman (gives a lot of support through Rockfest), Michelle (Drives us places and yells at me), Caitlyn and Larry (helping us with a play). Plus people that are acting or helping in RAW and acted in Playhouse (can anyone remember who they were?)

As far as ex-members go, can one of the founders remind me what we decided at the constitutional meeting? I THINK we said anyone who had no choice but to leave the group because of outside circumstances - eg leaving school or moving towns - was considered an honorary member and thus eligible for invitations to camps, excursions and functions? Does that sound familiar?

Other ideas I have had suggested:
1. invite Mr Stevenson and/or Ms Dawson (head of Arts) to maybe get a little extra official recognition
2. invite "The School Band" to encourage cross-group support and strengthen the idea of a "Performing Arts" department

Thoughts?

I agree. With all of the people suggested. Just not friends who tag along to camp and on excursions. Unless they've helped with other stuff.
