Hanging Rock - the report (and pics)

The trip to Hanging Rock was an absolute blast. Only Kat and Adele went, and I'm sorry to inform you that we didn't really miss the rest of you. We arrived there at about 11am and then spent about 4 hours crawling around the rock on an extended photoshoot, in costume. The weather was great, nice and warm, with just enough mysterious cloudiness to really set off the photos. They turned out awesome by the way - you can find them on the flickr site, in the set marked "Hanging Rock" (duh) but I haven't tagged them yet. If you click on "popular" you'll see that a couple of them have already been tagged as favorites by random strangers cruising Flickr! I'll also have a go at playing around with the colours and turning them black and white, and sepia, but that'll have to wait till I get bored.

After the rock we went to Werribee Mansion but got there too late, so we wandered around the Rose Garden and then drove home, picked up Luke, and went to dinner at the Dig Tree in Berwick, where we are thinking of staging the play.

The girls put on the costumes at 11am and didn't take them off again for the next nine hours. Those nine hours in costume were spent:
posing for photos,
scrambling into holes and crevices,
freaking out little kids (princesses? models? Who knows?),
curtseying to baffled but delighted tourists,
patting kangaroos,
buying lunch in town at Woodend (but NOT going into the library to ask for a copy of "Picnic at Hanging Rock" - wusses),
romping around the Rose Garden at Werribee Mansion,
rolling down hills,
going to dinner in Berwick,
eating kangaroo, crocodile and emu (well Kat did anyway),
and finally going home.

In fact, both girls were still wearing their costumes when I dropped them home (don't forget to return them on Monday!).

All in all one of the funniest and most relaxing days I've had in years.
Go look at the pics. The link should be over there on the left somewhere.
(If you look real close you might be able to spot Adele's jeans and Kat's odd-coloured chucks)

Meh, you both had your chance. Half the reason it was so much fun is cos we didn't spend any energy moping about who wasn't there.
