News and more pics

Scanned in Pat and Preety's S.A. pics today, you can find them on Flickr .

In other news:
- Heaps of audition type stuff around. See the post below this for info from Stacey on "West Side Story", plus I'll bring a video camera into school for people who want to have a go at the Dolly/Neighbours one. No-one has to do it of course, but then again, why not? It's all good experience.

- Still looking for a few helpers for Transition day on Tuesday. It's a one-hour session in the morning, and then another in the afternoon. Pretty much just drama games and stuff with the little grade 6ers, kinda like our youth program on Friday lunchtimes.

- Just on the youth program, many thanks to those who have helped out with it so far. The first week was really good, with a good turn-up; the second week was a mixed bag: only four or five kids really having a go = disappointing; but those four or five were kids that also came the week before, so they obviously really enjoyed it. Also a bunch of 5 or 6 girls came in late, too scared to participate, but at least there was interest. So maybe we can convince them to join in next week.

- There are a few outings coming up.
1. Monash Schools Theatre Festival. All year 10s are already going to this, on Friday June 2, as they're performing in it. Year 9s (which means Kat) are going too, as part of drama. Anyone else who wants to come (ie the Yr 11s) should let me know ASAP - cost will be $10. Other performances (not our school) will be happening on May 29, 30, 31 and June 1, and I am happy to take people to those as well, providing there is more than 1 kid interested for any given night. If you are wanting to see particular schools, see me to find out what night they're on (I know Deb wants to see Killester on May 31).
2. Bell Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Not sure of the date yet, but it looks likely to be June 3 (yes the day after the Monash thing). All production kids will be invited to this as part of the 'experience' and their tickets will most likely be subsidised. Non-production Redback kids are welcome to come along too, but will have to stump up all the money themselves, which will be about $30 I believe.
3. Guys and Dolls. Starring Luke. Well maybe not starring, but he is in it. I've already spoken to year 10 drama kids about this, and I will be taking groups on two nights: Friday June 16, and Saturday June 17. Anyone I haven't spoken to yet just has to pick one of those two nights and let me know by Wednesday this week, which is when I'll be booking tickets. Tickets cost $24, but since this is about supporting one of our own, I suggest we consider using our fundraising money to either partly or completely pay for Redback members' tickets. We can discuss that at our next meeting (see below).

- Our next meeting...isn't due for a couple of weeks, but since we need to discuss some of the above stuff, I'm going to bump it up to this Wednesday. In C2 as usual.

Bye
Caughey
