Well folks my trip is drawing to an end, and soon enough I'll be back there in boring old Oz with the rest of you. Still got a day or two yet though.
Jordan is wonderful. In many ways it's like Egypt, but cleaner, more organised, and much less hassling and begging from the locals. Petra in particular was fantastic - we went first at night, where the canyon (which is over a kilometre long before you get to the ancient city) was lit up by candles). Then the next day we went in daylight and spent the whole day climbing around the ruins. Apart from the carved monuments that you always see in pictures, there are also entire houses carved out of the rock, so at times it looks a bit like the Flintstones. I love clambering around on rocks and stuff, so I could have spent weeks there.
Today was a bit of a nothing day - we mainly just drove from south Jordan to north - but we stopped at a lot of shops on the way so Mrs C was happy enough. Tomorrow we go to visit an Ancient Roman ruin, and then swim in the Dead Sea which of course is so salty that you can float on your back and read a book or a newspaper without it getting wet.
Anyway that's it for now.
Bye
Mr C.
